The project ‘Stoepplantjes’ raises awareness of wild plants in the city, and pushing back against the word "weed".
Leiden has clearly become greener in recent years. Projects like 'Stoepplantjes' contribute to that. In this project, neighbourhood scientists and researchers from FLORON and Leiden University map the urban flora together and measure the species richness of the urban ecosystem.
Researching together builds awareness of how important wild plants are for the city and reveals the true value of so-called "weeds". The insights it produces are useful for everyone.
